New Zealand Lesser Short-tailed Bat
Mystacina tuberculata
This bat lives in New Zealand forests, roosting in hollow trees, caves, and ground shelters. It feeds on insects, fruit, nectar, and pollen, using echolocation to navigate and locate food. Unlike most bats, it often folds its wings and crawls across the forest floor while foraging. Its tongue can reach deep into flowers to collect nectar.
