Cone-shaped Orbweaver
Cyclosa conica

The cone-shaped orbweaver inhabits woodland edges, hedgerows, gardens, and scrubby vegetation across much of Europe and parts of Asia. It builds a small orb web, often decorated with a line of prey remains and debris that helps conceal the spider while it rests among them. Flying insects caught in the web are rapidly bitten, immobilized with venom, and wrapped in silk. Its sharply pointed abdomen gives this species its distinctive cone-like outline.
