Octagonal-Tail Worm
Dendrobaena octaedra

The octagonal-tail worm lives in moist coniferous forests, mossy woodland floors, and acidic leaf litter across northern regions. It feeds on decomposing plant material, fungi, and microorganisms swallowed with soil. Usually active near the surface after rain or at night, it retreats into litter and soil when conditions dry. Its name refers to the distinctly angular, eight-sided appearance of its rear body segments.
