Greater Arid-land Katydid
Neobarrettia spinosa

The adult inhabits arid grasslands and thorny scrub, usually remaining hidden in vegetation by day. It is an active nocturnal hunter that catches other insects with powerful jaws and spiny legs. Adults also consume some vegetation and may move between feeding sites after dark. Males produce rasping calls by rubbing their forewings together.
