Gambian Sun Squirrel Pup
Heliosciurus gambianus (pup)
This young squirrel remains in a sheltered tree nest in West African woodland and forest, relying on its mother for warmth and milk. As it grows, it begins to explore nearby branches and sample soft fruit, seeds, and insects. Its developing claws and tail help it cling securely while learning to move through the canopy.
