Texas Field Cricket
Gryllus texensis

Adult Texas field crickets inhabit grassy fields, roadsides, gardens, and other open habitats with cover near the ground. They are omnivores, feeding on seeds, vegetation, insects, and carrion. Males call from sheltered spots, using their forewings to produce loud chirps that attract mates and signal territory. Adults are most active during warm evenings and nights.
