Sparkling Violetear Chick
Colibri coruscans (chick)
The chick remains in a small cup-shaped nest in montane forest clearings and garden edges. It is fed regurgitated nectar and tiny insects by its parent, growing rapidly while sheltering among vegetation. Before fledging, it exercises its developing wings with short, vigorous flaps.
