Western Painted Lady Caterpillar
Vanessa carye (larva)
This caterpillar lives on low vegetation in open grasslands, scrub, and disturbed habitats across parts of South America. It feeds chiefly on the leaves of mallows and related plants, often resting in a small shelter woven from silk and leaves. When disturbed, it can curl its spiny body and remain still among its host plant.
