Dwarf Caiman
Paleosuchus palpebrosus

Dwarf caimans inhabit forested rivers, streams, and seasonally flooded wetlands across northern South America. Mostly active at night, they ambush fish, amphibians, crustaceans, and small vertebrates from the water’s edge. Despite being the smallest living crocodilian, this species has notably heavy armor and a powerful bite for its size.
