Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boa
Corallus batesii
Adult Amazon Basin emerald tree boas inhabit the canopy and lower branches of humid rainforest, where they rest coiled over limbs. They are patient nocturnal ambush predators, feeding mainly on mammals and birds that pass within striking range. Long front teeth secure prey before powerful coils subdue it. Their bright green body and pale zigzag markings provide excellent camouflage among leaves.
