Italian Sparrow Hatchling
Passer italiae (hatchling)
Newly hatched Italian Sparrows are naked or sparsely downy chicks confined to the nest in buildings, cavities, or sheltered ledges near human settlements and farmland. They cannot fly or feed themselves, relying on parents to bring insects and other soft foods rich in protein. Their main behaviour is gaping and giving begging calls, a notable early-life adaptation that helps parents locate and feed them quickly.
