South American Wolf Spider
Lycosa erythrognatha

This large wolf spider inhabits grasslands, forest edges, gardens, and other ground-level habitats across parts of South America. It hunts actively at night, relying on sharp vision and rapid dashes rather than a prey-catching web. Insects and other small arthropods are subdued with a venomous bite. Females carry their egg sac attached to the spinnerets and later transport newly hatched young on their backs.
