Eastern Indian Striated Burrowing Spider
Chilobrachys hardwickei

This large tarantula inhabits dry forests, scrubland, and human-disturbed ground in eastern India. It constructs deep, silk-lined burrows and waits at the entrance to ambush insects and other small invertebrates. When threatened, it may raise its front legs in a warning display and can deliver a venomous bite. Its striking dark-and-pale striped pattern has made it well known in the arachnid hobby.
