Strinati's Cave Salamander
Speleomantes strinatii

Strinati's cave salamander lives in humid limestone caves, rock fissures, and shaded forest shelters in northwestern Italy and nearby southeastern France. It is mostly active at night or in damp conditions, moving quietly across wet rock and leaf litter. Small invertebrates such as springtails, mites, and tiny insects are caught with a rapid sticky tongue. Unlike many salamanders, it lacks lungs and breathes through its moist skin and mouth lining.
