Longnose Butterflyfish
Forcipiger flavissimus

Adult longnose butterflyfish inhabit coral-rich lagoons and outer reef slopes in tropical Indo-Pacific waters. They use their exceptionally long jaws to probe crevices for small crustaceans, worms, and other benthic invertebrates. Despite their delicate appearance, adults can defend feeding areas and are often seen moving deliberately through branching coral.
