Eurasian Wryneck
Jynx torquilla

The Eurasian wryneck occupies open woodland, orchards, hedgerows, and clearings with old trees for nesting cavities. It feeds mainly on ants and their larvae, probing into soil and crevices with its long, sticky tongue. Its cryptic bark-like plumage helps it blend against tree trunks, while its remarkable neck-twisting and hissing display can resemble a small snake.
