Chocolate Surgeonfish
Acanthurus pyroferus
Adult chocolate surgeonfish live around coral reefs, rocky slopes, and lagoons throughout the Indo-Pacific. They spend much of the day grazing algae and detritus from hard surfaces. A sharp, scalpel-like spine on each side of the tail base provides an effective defense when threatened.
