Shanny
Lipophrys pholis

The common shanny lives among rocks, seaweed, and crevices along wave-washed coasts. It feeds on small crustaceans, molluscs, worms, and algae, often foraging in tide pools. This hardy fish can remain out of water for a time by hiding in damp shelters and breathing through its skin and gills.
