Boulenger's Pricklenape
Acanthosaura crucigera
Boulenger's pricklenape inhabits shaded, humid forests in mainland Southeast Asia, usually perching on trunks, shrubs, and low branches. It remains remarkably still when threatened, its brown and green pattern blending with bark and moss. The lizard hunts insects and other small invertebrates with quick lunges and bites. Its prominent neck spines can be raised as part of a defensive display.
