Northern Forest Dragon
Hypsilurus godeffroyi
The Northern Forest Dragon is an arboreal lizard of rainforests and wet forests in northern Queensland. It spends much of its time on tree trunks and branches, watching for insects and other small prey before making a quick strike. Its bark-like colour pattern provides excellent camouflage while it rests motionless. Males use conspicuous head and body displays when defending territory or attracting mates.
