Ringed Forceptail
Aphylla theodorina

Adults patrol sunny edges of streams, ponds, and wetlands, often perching low between short hunting flights. They catch mosquitoes, flies, and other small insects in mid-air. Their large compound eyes provide excellent motion detection while pursuing prey. Males have forceps-like terminal appendages used to hold a mate during breeding.
