Paddle-tipped Duskhawker
Gynacantha mocsaryi
The adult Paddle-tipped Duskhawker patrols forest clearings, streams, and swampy pools, often becoming active around dusk. It catches flying insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and smaller dragonflies in mid-air, gripping prey with its spiny legs before eating it. Powerful eyes provide a broad view for tracking movement, while the paddle-like terminal appendages are a notable feature of the adult.
