Emerald Dove
Chalcophaps indica

The Emerald Dove inhabits dense forest, wooded farmland, mangroves, and shady gardens across southern and southeastern Asia. It spends much of its time walking on the ground to pick up seeds, fallen fruit, and small invertebrates. When disturbed, it bursts into rapid flight through cover and may perch quietly overhead. Its iridescent emerald-green wing feathers are especially conspicuous when the bird flies.
