Jamaican field cricket
Gryllus assimilis

The adult Jamaican field cricket occupies grasslands, lawns, crop margins, and other warm, sheltered ground cover. It is mainly active at night and eats a varied diet of seeds, plant matter, insects, and carrion. Males produce their characteristic chirping calls by rubbing specialized areas of their forewings together to attract mates and establish calling sites.
