Picazuro Pigeon
Patagioenas picazuro

The Picazuro Pigeon inhabits open woodland, savanna edges, agricultural areas, parks, and towns across southern South America. It spends much of its time walking on the ground to eat seeds, grains, fallen fruit, and tender plant material. When startled, it launches with loud wingbeats and can travel quickly between feeding and roosting sites. A distinctive pale patch on the folded wing helps identify this large pigeon.
