Umbrella Cichlid
Apistogramma borellii
Adult umbrella cichlids live in calm, vegetation-rich tributaries, pools, and flooded margins of the Paraguay River basin. They search through leaf litter and among aquatic plants for small crustaceans, insect larvae, and other invertebrates. Males display expanded fins and defend small territories, while both parents may guard eggs and young.
