Fire Eel
Mastacembelus erythrotaenia

Adult fire eels live in warm, slow-moving freshwater rivers, swamps, and vegetated channels of Southeast Asia. Mostly active at night, they search the bottom for insect larvae, crustaceans, worms, and small fish. Their distinctive red lateral markings give this large spiny eel its common name, despite it not being a true eel.
