Greater Noctule Pup
Nyctalus lasiopterus (pup)
A Greater Noctule pup spends its early life hidden in tree cavities, roof spaces, or nursery roosts where adult females gather. It feeds entirely on milk at first, clinging to its mother or the roost wall with tiny claws. Before it can fly, it relies on contact calls, warmth, and concealment rather than pursuit. A notable feature of young bats is how quickly they develop the wing strength needed for their first hunting flights.
