Woolly Mammoth
Mammuthus primigenius

Woolly mammoths inhabited the cold, dry grasslands and tundra of Pleistocene Eurasia and North America. They used their trunks to gather grasses, sedges, shrubs, and other tough vegetation, often sweeping snow aside to reach forage. Long shaggy hair, a thick fat layer, and curved tusks were key adaptations for life in the Ice Age.
