South Asian applesnail
Pila ampullacea

The South Asian applesnail lives in ponds, marshes, rice fields, and slow-moving freshwater across Southeast Asia. It grazes on aquatic plants, algae, and decaying vegetation with a rough radula, and may also feed on soft plant tissues. During dry conditions it can bury into mud and seal itself inside its shell with an operculum, reducing water loss until wetter conditions return.
