California Bordered Plant Bug
Largus californicus

Adults inhabit open woodland edges, gardens, and dry scrub where mallows and other seed-producing plants grow. They feed chiefly by piercing seeds and plant tissues, and may also take moisture or scavenge when available. The adult's black body, red borders, and fully developed wings make it conspicuous as it walks through vegetation or flies short distances.
