Giant Water Bug
Lethocerus indicus

The adult giant water bug inhabits still or sluggish freshwater with dense vegetation and muddy margins. It is an ambush predator that captures fish, frogs, aquatic insects, and other small animals with powerful raptorial forelegs. Its piercing rostrum injects saliva that immobilizes and liquefies prey. Adults can fly between wetlands, often being drawn to artificial lights at night.
