Yellow-Crowned Amazon
Amazona ochrocephala

Yellow-crowned Amazons inhabit tropical forest, gallery woodland, mangroves, and cultivated areas across parts of Central and northern South America. They forage in the canopy for fruit, seeds, nuts, berries, and blossoms, using their strong hooked bills to crack hard foods. Adults are social outside nesting periods and make loud calls while flying between feeding and roosting sites. The yellow patch on the crown becomes more conspicuous with maturity, though its extent varies among individuals.
