West Indian Cane Weevil
Metamasius hemipterus

The adult West Indian cane weevil inhabits cultivated sugarcane, bananas, palms, and other large herbaceous plants. It uses its long snout to feed and to help prepare sites where eggs are laid in damaged or soft plant tissue. Adults can fly between host plants, allowing infestations to spread rapidly through suitable habitat.
