Caspian Turtle
Mauremys caspica

Caspian Turtles live in ponds, marshes, canals, and slow-moving freshwater across parts of western Asia and the Middle East. They forage in the water and along muddy banks for insects, snails, small fish, carrion, and aquatic vegetation. Adults bask on exposed rocks or banks to warm themselves before returning to cover. Their flattened shell and strong swimming feet suit a semi-aquatic life.
