Aegean freshwater crab
Potamon potamios

Adult Aegean freshwater crabs live in Mediterranean streams, springs, irrigation channels, and humid ground near freshwater. They are mostly nocturnal omnivores, eating aquatic invertebrates, plant matter, carrion, and small animals they can catch. Strong claws defend feeding sites and shelter holes, while the crab can survive periods away from water if its gills remain moist.
