Ashe's Bush Viper
Atheris desaixi
Ashe's bush viper inhabits cool, moist montane forests and bamboo thickets of central Kenya. It is a largely arboreal ambush hunter, taking lizards, frogs, small mammals, and birds from concealed perches. Its rough, strongly keeled scales give it a distinctive spiny appearance, while its venomous fangs dispatch prey quickly.
