Common Night Adder
Causus rhombeatus

The Common Night Adder inhabits grassy savanna, woodland edges, and damp cover near seasonal wetlands across much of sub-Saharan Africa. It is a slow-moving ambush predator that feeds mainly on frogs and toads, often remaining concealed until prey comes within range. When threatened, it inflates its body and hisses loudly before delivering a venomous defensive bite.
