African Rock Python
Python sebae
Adult African rock pythons inhabit savannas, woodland, rocky areas, and wetland margins across much of sub-Saharan Africa. They wait in cover or near water to ambush mammals, birds, and other suitably sized prey, then overpower it by constriction. As Africa's largest snake, a mature individual can swallow prey far wider than its own head because of its highly flexible jaws.
