Sudan Mastigure

Uromastyx dispar

Sudan Mastigure

Adult Sudan mastigures inhabit hot, arid plains and rocky desert areas, where they excavate deep burrows for shelter from heat and predators. They are primarily herbivorous, eating leaves, flowers, seeds, and other available vegetation. When cornered, the lizard can brace itself and lash with its heavily spined tail. It regulates its body temperature by basking in the sun and retreating to its burrow during extreme heat.
