Crested Mona Monkey
Cercopithecus pogonias
Crested mona monkeys inhabit tropical forests and forest edges in central Africa, spending much of their time moving through the canopy. They forage for fruit, seeds, leaves, insects, and other small foods, using agile leaps to cross gaps between branches. Adults are alert and vocal, giving calls when disturbed or threatened. Their distinctive pale brow and crest-like forehead markings make their expressive faces easy to recognize.
