Red-rumped Agouti
Dasyprocta leporina

Red-rumped agoutis inhabit tropical rainforest, forest edges, and cultivated clearings across northern South America. These alert rodents forage for fallen fruit, seeds, nuts, and roots, often carrying and burying food caches. Their powerful incisors can open hard-shelled fruits, and forgotten buried seeds can grow into new trees.
