Brown Pricklenape
Acanthosaura lepidogaster
Brown Pricklenapes inhabit shaded forests and scrub, usually perching on branches or trunks close to the ground. They hunt insects and other small invertebrates with quick lunges and bites. When disturbed, they freeze against bark or foliage and use their cryptic brown patterning as camouflage. Their characteristic spiny nape is raised during defensive displays.
