Saddleback Caterpillar Moth Caterpillar
Acharia stimulea (larva)
This caterpillar lives on the leaves of shrubs and trees in woodland edges, gardens, and orchards of eastern North America. It feeds on a broad range of foliage, chewing leaves as it grows through several molts. Bright green and brown markings resemble a tiny saddle, while venomous spines on both ends can cause a painful sting when touched.
