Indian Ornamental Tarantula
Poecilotheria regalis

This large arboreal tarantula lives in tree hollows, beneath loose bark, and occasionally in buildings in the forests of southern India. It waits near a silk-lined retreat at night, then rapidly ambushes insects and sometimes small vertebrates. Its bold yellow-and-black leg markings are a notable warning display, while its venomous bite is an important defense.
