Golden Blue Leg Baboon Tarantula
Harpactira pulchripes

The golden blue leg baboon tarantula lives in dry savanna and scrubland in South Africa, occupying silk-lined burrows beneath rocks or in firm soil. It waits near its retreat for insects and other small invertebrates, rushing out to seize prey with its fangs. When threatened, it may raise its front legs in a warning posture and can deliver a venomous bite. Its striking yellow-gold body hairs and metallic blue legs make it one of the most distinctive baboon tarantulas.
