Italian Scorpion
Euscorpius italicus

The Italian scorpion lives in warm Mediterranean habitats, sheltering beneath stones, loose bark, and in wall crevices; it has also spread to some cooler regions through human transport. It is chiefly nocturnal, emerging to hunt small insects, spiders, and other invertebrates. Prey is seized with its large pincers and subdued with a sting when needed. Despite its imposing appearance, its venom is generally of low medical significance to healthy people.
