Pinktoe Tarantula
Avicularia avicularia

The pinktoe tarantula is an arboreal spider of humid forests in northern South America, often sheltering in tree hollows, rolled leaves, and silk retreats. It waits near its retreat for insects and other small invertebrates, then rushes out to seize them with its fangs. When threatened, it may raise its front legs in a warning posture and can aim defensive droppings at an attacker. Its bright pink toe pads help it grip smooth vegetation while climbing.
