Mayfly
Heptagenia longicauda

Adult mayflies emerge beside clean running water and spend their brief lives flying, mating, and laying eggs. They are most active in calm, humid conditions near the streams where they developed. Adults have reduced mouthparts and generally do not feed. Their long tail filaments and upright wings make them conspicuous in flight.
