Brown Creeper
Certhia americana
Brown Creepers inhabit mature coniferous, mixed, and deciduous forests, where they spiral upward along trunks and large branches. They probe beneath loose bark with their thin curved bills for insects, spiders, and other small arthropods. Their mottled brown upperparts closely resemble tree bark, making a foraging bird remarkably difficult to spot.
